Air photos

Description The air photo is one of base data -obtaining by optical way- of remote sensing which carries the reproduction of the photographed area. According to the state of the optical axle of the aerial camera two version of air photos are available: air photo with vertical and with oblique axle. According to the establishment of the installation of the aerial camera again two version of air photos are available: air photo with and without measuring mark.

The most important types of the film are as follows:

Films for taking photos in the domain of visable light:
a) Black-white (panchromatic)
b) Colour

Films for taking photos in the domain of infrared light:
a) Black – white
b) False colour image

Charasteristics and use of the films

Colour infrared film (CIR): can be used in the agriculture, wood and wild economy, economy of water-supplies, environmental protection.

Colour film: can be used for environmental state surveying, topograpghical mapping

Panchromatic films: its classic use is the map creating in middle and large scale.

Hungary is well covered with aerial photos . They are taken off by aerial topographic cameras in different heights, different times, in black-white. The aerial photos are stored in the Department of Sales and Archives of Remote Sensing Data. Number of photos are over more hundred-thousands. They are ordered in a territorial and technical catalogue. They can be searched for buy, lending, copying. Derived products (enlargement, transformatums, stereo interpretations) are available, too.

Comment Aerial photography of Hungary 2000

Within the frame of the European Harmonisation Programme of the Ministry of Agriculture and Regional Development in the year 2000 - for the first time of its history - aerial photography was completed for the whole territory of Hungary during a short period of time at scale of 1:30000. As a result of this project more, than 7000 pieces of colour diapozitve aerial photos were taken, all of them were scanned and archived. This enormous amount of data will serve as a "back-bone" of the nation-wide digital ortophoto program at scale of 1:10 000.

The photography has to be suitable for several applications, as - Topographic mapping, - Recording of statement of several agricultural plants, - Establishing of land use categories, - Delineation of waste lands, - Surveying of soil map contents, - Delineation of soil erosion areas, - Mapping of water logged areas, - Regional planning, - Forest inventory, management etc.

Based on the high-resolution digital elevation model, FÖMI has started the orthorectification of aerial photographs. The full technology is under construction.
